Kurt Cobain at the Seattle Art Museum

Punk is musical freedom. It's saying, doing and playing what you want. In Webster's terms, 'nirvana' means freedom from pain, suffering and the external world, and that's pretty close to my definition of Punk Rock. Kurt Cobain

So here it is. The Seattle Art Museum has opened an exhibition which is dedicated to an icon of the 90`s, to Kurt Cobain. Different Artists from the 90`s to the present are going to show and explain to the viewers how did Kurt Cobain become such an important person for the generation. In this exhibition you may find a little video with no music by Gillian Wearing where the artist dances on herself while listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit. Or a selection of black & white images signed by Charles Peterson. These images underline punk spirit of the first concerts by Nirvana. The exhibition seems being quite interesting for everyone. And does not limit herself to a social context.
Kurt Cobain thereore has become a part of a small circle of pop-rock singers which inspires creative minds of contemporary artists. Like Michael Jackson or Prince for example.
All additional information about the exhibition, as well as the video, or a slideshow may be found here:

PS: SAM (Seattle Museum of Art) has an exhibition of the media works by Andy Warhol ongoing at the same time.

Need Help

Dear Friends, I am really sorry to disturb you again today, but I will ask you, whoever you are to post at least one web-site which you check to get art news. Thanks again.

First Step

This is a picture of Oomka (Умка) in a Russian cartoon

Hi everyone! My name is Oomka, and I am almost 12 hours old. Oomka is the name of a little white bear in a Russian cartoon but it is also how my boyfriend calls me. The main goal of this blog will be to shed light on the news in the world of art. I am not pretending to be a journalist, or an art historian but rather I am trying to show to everyone where does the art world go today.  Therefore as a little white bear I invite you to travel with me on my piece of ice in the ocean of incredible art news. And I apologize for any grammar mistakes, and will be happy to correct them. As unfortunately English is not my mother tongue.
