Prints, lovely prints.

I am a big lover of prints. And in this post I am going to share with you some of the loveliest prints of this year fashion shows.

I would say that one of my most favorite prints ever. And this could be found in the last collection by Phoebe Philo for Celine F/W 2011.

The next one I was going to show you is by Rodarte F/W 2011.  Check the print at the bottom. And tell me what could of been more suitable for a Ukrainian lady that this dress. Some of you may ask why, here is the answer.  The answer is that the Ukrainian flag according to some sources is a stylised version of an image of the sky and a grain field.

Alright, the next print I am going to show you here is an example of Stella McCartney`s prints for her collection F/W 2011. Most of the fashion experts relate it to mylar, a special type of metallized foil which reflect around 97% of light. Girls are going to shine in this Stella McCartney`s collection!

Or check this one!

Birds are still going to appear on our t-shirts, skirts and dresses next year. I really like it. They add romanticism to the looks and here are the proofs of it.

Mulberry F/W 2011

And Miu Miu F/W 2011.  I thought that skylarks are the messengers of spring, guess what this rule apply`s to fashion as well. We always want something that reminds us of spring during a cold winter.

For those who are real experts in art ( which I am not), check the prints in Dries Van Noten collection. Some people say that he was inspired by the expressionists, some say that he was inspired by Russian constructivist`s painters. Who knows, I`ll just add that Dries Van Noten knows how to mix colors and patterns in the looks he creates. This is real magic, and certainly this needs a certain amount of taste and understanding of colors.

Comme des garcons has shown us how it is possible to wear things made up from a million of scarves. This is an idea that was predicted to be copied by the mass market soon.

And to sum it all up. This dress fascinates me now for a while already. It is made by Charles Anastase for his FW 20011 collection. And I think that this print is gorgeous.

Son Lux. Sound of Luxury.

One of my new musical discoveries is the album "We Are Rising" by Son Lux. It was released on the 26th of April, 2011. This is the third album released on Anticon Label, by Ryan Lott.
He was born in Denver in 1979, and has moved to Connecticut at the age of 5.  He has started to take piano lessons at the age  of 6. And hated it. His dream was to become a composer.
In his third year of studying piano and composition at  the Indiana Uni, he started to make some projects with a ballet dancer, who later became his wife.
He has conceived the multimedia art gala called Connect.
Founded with his wife and his two friends a charitable Art Serving Humanity Ensemble.
Composed a piece for saxophone and tape.
Worked as a full-time composer in NY.
He then compulsively collected sounds for three years, and started arranging. But here is a trick, he did it not by ear, as a real composer. He arranged by rhythm as a real beatmaker. This is how he made his first album At War with Walls and Mazes in 2008.

What surprised me is Mr. Lott`s approach, he resembles some really contemporary sounds with a classical concerto in one track.  To me this is the new generation of chamber music. It definitely shouldn`t be different. The tinkering sounds, the magic of the notes written by Ryan Lott are so surprising, that I can not stop listening to it. "So would you chase or let me go? You can`t change that", are the lyrics in Chase...

The thing is that he wrote his last album in 28days. Check this album teaser for more...

James Blake

Oki doki, I am back to Uni. Where I am officially supposed to revise, but what is seriously not going to be pure revision for me, but rather learning new stuff. Oh, well. Let` talk about something else.
Here are the news.

James Blake is going to release a new single on the 20th of June. I am already waiting for that! It is going to be a double A-sided joint available on a 10" vinyl, and also it will be available for download. This single is going to feature 'Unluck', and both of the "Lindsfarne": "Lindsfarne I" and "Lindsfarne II".

Good news, isn`t it?

My little experiment

This is my little piece. I would be grateful if you stop and stare for a while.
I think this picture makes me think about infinity and how much we can do ourselves. We are creators.
I really wanted to emphasize the texture of the skin. It is marvellous how all of us have a different skin print. We all differ, but yet we are the same, and have almost the same physical capabilities.

And at the end, a track by the One AM Radio band. I really like it.

Woodkid "Iron"

In the last few days I fell in love with a French Band "The Shoes". I am definitely in love with their vibes. But tonight I am going to share something very substantial.

I am gonna write about the new imperial video by Yoanne Lemoine. This french guy is only 27 or 28, but he is a real pro. He has worked in high fashion and music photography. He has won an award for an animated work made for Aides Graffiti.
He is a know music video maker in LA, and has worked with the french singer Yelle, Moby. He has made Katy Perry`s "Teenage Dream". Apparently he works closely with the french guys from "The Shoes" as well.

This video is a piece of art. I think the top-model Agyness Deyn is a new Joan of Arc, Maid of Orleans in this video.
It is a whole big piece of musical and visual pleasure.
Luxuriant, horrifying, and really dramatic!
Bravo Monsieur Lemoine !!!

Please watch this on full screen. Iron!!!

Damien Ortega "Tool Bit"

I know I have been really bad at reporting the last events. Maybe this is due to the fact, that when I am not totally satisfied myself with what I see, I don`t wanna write about it. But everything is so subjective.
I have finally made myself list some of the last events and exhibitions I have been to Pinchuk Art Center

I definitely need big solos shows. A retrospective of the works which can give me the feeling of where the artist was going to, how were his/her ideas evolving in the last years. I need to understand what is the main theme of his/her works not trough the little explanatory note on the wall but myself.
However now, the center is showcasing three solo shows at the same time, plus a little show of Ukrainian artists and their works representing Candice Breitz. This had a little disappointing effect on me, and makes a total jumble of ideas in my head.

I really liked Damien Ortega show. It has something really simple and maybe agricultural in it. Something common between two cultures, between Mexican and Ukrainian. I know it sounds a bit foolish to say that, but it reminds me of the pictures on the outskirts of Ukrainian country sides. Some debris of tractors lying here and there on the soil. Parts and pieces of factories decomposing on the black spring fields. At the same time these are just my impressions from the exhibition at Pinchuk Art Centre.
To say a few words about Damien Ortega. It is a well-know artist in the art-world. He was born in Mexico in 1967 and is considered to be one of the most famous mexican artists of the new-generation.

He is known for his "do-it-yourself" style, taking things and detaching them. Exposing simple objects at galleries and museums by simply detaching and reassembling them in a new way.

"Ortega deliberately presents it as a work-in-progress, with the implication that it could continue to grow, or be rearranged into new configurations. Detaching a functional object like a chair from its everyday setting and projecting it into the realm of art involves a certain short-circuiting of the viewer’s expectations. There is a subtle irreverence at play here that pokes fun at both the purity of canonical Minimalist sculpture, and at the museum as repository for the kind of permanent monuments that Ortega seeks to undermine"

Damian Ortega, "Project for Social Housing", 2007. Clay bricks, cement, silicon and steel; variable sizes

This project is particularly interesting to me. It reminds me a bit of  a Termitary. Taking into account the trend in architecture  and landscape design to make things to look the more naturally possible. One day we may see buildings of this type. Why not, big cities are growing, populations are growing as well. Why not make Social housing more playful?
However the I was told that the artist was inspired by stalactites and stalagmites. Who knows...? :)

Damián Ortega, "Melting Point", 2011. Aluminum, lead, bronze, glass.

Damián Ortega, "Tool Beat: Melody", 2011. Steel.
This work particularly reminded me of Ukraine.  And I really liked how the little gold fishes were swimming in this wheel.  It is funny to see how nature reintegrates in the things we leave behind us. The rests of our civilization.

Gorillaz - Amarillo

(via http://twisted-diamond-heart.tumblr.com)

Here is a new track by Gorillaz. Amarillo, meaning yellow in spanish is definitely a spring colour. It just goes with flowers, little chicks, Easter, eggs, green grass everywhere and off course Spring Rays of Sun!!!

Buy Student Art

Today, I have found a cool website. It is called Buy Student Art. The project was made, to help students taking visual arts as a degree to raise money for their studies. The organisation of this website is very simple as well. It is easily accessible to sellers and buyers. And there is a price division as well. This website has just been created recently. And is pretty empty. But I still think that the creation of this website is a good idea.

Here are works that I like.

And here is the link ://www.buystudentart.co.uk.
Please have a look.

Sasha Glybina

Kiev Fashion Days.
По крайней мере я всегда prete a porter les habits de Sacha:).

Sasha Glybina
I am going to make you discover a very young Ukrainian designer Sasha Glybina.
She is studying at the National University of Technologies and Design.  I really like  her new stuff. I think she has got a real potential in pret-a-porter.  Sasha Glybina has recently opened her showroom in Kiev, and what stroke me even more  is that this young talent, had to look for the place as well as to draw the design of the future showroom by herself. She is a pure selfmade creature.

I think you have to understand that being a young designer in Ukraine has nothing in common with being a young designer in Europe. Finding so simple things as special equipment, or even fabrics is much harder than it is in the UK. Finding sponsors who are going to believe in you, and invest in you is even harder.
I wish good luck to this girl, and I hope to be able to see her show on the Kiev Fashion Week very soon.

Please take time to look at the items she has created!

These are the things I personally really like. I am happy to show them.

A few pictures of the opening of her showroom. I sincerely regret, that I was not in Kiev at this time.
